Sami Bierman, Intern

Intern

Sami is completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Naropa University and joins Sweetgrass as an intern under the clinical supervision of Gaelen Engler. She brings a rich background of guiding in the outdoors and working in wilderness therapy, experiences that have shaped her passion for helping facilitate a sense of awe, wonder, and interconnectedness with the natural world.

Sami draws from mindfulness-based interventions, expressive arts, and play-based approaches, inviting clients to explore their emotions with curiosity, creativity, and compassion. She views her role as walking alongside her clients—reflecting their innate resilience, brilliance, and wholeness—while creating a warm and open space where healing, self-discovery, and growth all feel possible. Sami’s services at Sweetgrass are offered to the community on a sliding scale basis. For those interested, she also offers walk-and-talk sessions outdoors, integrating movement and nature into the therapeutic process.
